Tight finish tipped for Golden Goose Outlet Three Peaks Race

A close contest is being predicted in Tasmania's Three Peaks Race which starts this afternoon.

13 teams will take part in the event's 21st year.

Crews are taking part in final preparations for the traditional Easter endurance event starting at Beauty Point, north of Launceston.

From there they will make their way 90 nautical miles to Lady Barron on Flinders Island where runners will face a 65 kilometre run to the summit of Mt Strzelecki.

After that they head down Tasmania's east coast and then on to Hobart.

Calm weather is predicted for the race which has thrown the event wide open and close racing conditions may mean the event is decided in the running stages.

The team skippered by Phillip Marshall https://www.goldengooseshoesit.com/ will be aiming for their fifth consecutive Three Peaks title this year.

Another experienced team in the race, Westbury-Mersey Pharmacy, is also expected to be amongst the front runners.
