I am not certain why folks who use RL even think RuneScape gold this is a good idea, and I don't mean from a company standpoint. I would suggest from the stand point which, if Jagex did"buy" RL and make it the official client, then you can bet your bum one of 2 things would happen. Either A. They would go through the entire plug-in list using a fine-toothed comb and remove a BUNCH of these (including a number of you fav"QoL" plug-ins). Or B. They would poll the yield of EVERY plug-in, and then you would STILL lose plug-ins to them failing in the polls. In either instance, you're losing out. Maintaining RL unofficial is in your interest in the event you truly wish to keep plug-ins that will be be removed if Jagex took over.
You can check my comment history. I have talked with MANY different people over the past couple of months, and gotten VERY different responses as to what plug-ins they want to see make their way to the official client if RL were bought. And yes, there ARE and other borderline cheating plug-ins. There are those who need some of the items listed in the most recent blog. Not talking tile markers, I mean stuff like the Cerb prayer and of course from the last wave. Just because YOU have what you consider to be reasonable expectations, does not mean others do too.
Even though plenty of people are trolling with answers here, I really don't see why Jagex is not contemplating buying RL unless they wanted too much. For every OSRS update could be a drop in the bucket for them, even as is correct now and cover one person full-time to update the customer. Plus it comes with reddit trolls being joyful. As a business minded person (CPA) I've been wondering this for a very long time. Even if the business that owns Jagex is hoping to sell them off it is still a smart acquisition for this Jagex which makes it more appealing to an investor. Does anybody know if Jagex has tried and was turned away?
OSRS has been so far as applications and games goes - it is an essential part of the experience of exactly what OSRS for men and women, and although the customer is dated and bad. For lots of users, if they updated to a new client it would get rid of the sense and individuality of what's OSRS. Do not piss off your present clients. OSRS already has practically no curb appeal for anybody who has not played RS before, and I would be missing, when they took away what made it feel like the OG. I came back because it was exactly as I remembered it (mostly). When a customer update was I'd be fucking missing and wouldn't feel as inclined to find out that the janky system around again.
A third party client buy-out would bring about an increase to buy OSRS gold but also for the company pride and also security of its customers. Normally, purchasing a business because they left something better to the game than you did yourself isn't going to impress any investor about your internal development team and leadership team. Why didn't leadership identify this and have one made internally Should they need a new client?
