Tout le monde (grand public)

As PVP, Eoc murdered it for. Not that abilities and OSRS gold skills are bad for pvp, It's your average runescape participant would rather visit bdo, tera, Gw2 or alternative better ability based pvp games. Highscores are a meme, as you said. They've no relevence and in order to get close to highscores with mtx you would need to shell out thousands of dollars for only one account. I don't believe I've even spent more than 15 thousand on runescape over the many years I have spent playing runescape. One thing Runescape should do, is make your accounts have character slots, so you won't have to use multiple accounts. Not that logging on different ones is hard, it merely would be more convenient.

I don't think RS3 ought to be freemium since the runescape game will absolutely be botted or altscaped to hell if this occurred. Look at what complimentary membership out of Twitch Prime has done to our game throughout the raffle and what is it doing to OSRS using its reworked BH right now. Membership fees lowers. Moreover, how would you distinguish non-MTX runescape players from MTX runescape players at hiscores other than ironman mode?

This is a cogent article and clearly you have put in much idea balancing MTX realities with runescape participant ire.I think the most important reason MTX is so detrimental to RS3 is because RS3 is fundamentally an exp/grinding game, where the"development" itself is what's fun/satisfying. Everything in RS is basically a mill - grinding orbs out of Telos, grinding hint scrolls to get a dye, grinding quests for to more quests, etc. While one can argue ironman/hardcore are short term cease gaps that make accomplishments"more real", the fundamental issue remains getting 99s is no more meaningful to the majority of runescape players. Also the average runescape player can't really compare their expertise.

They speak about makeup when people talk into MTX. The basic challenge is that RS3 graphics aren't good enough for people to have an awesome encounter; i.e. League of Legends animations and skins. That basically needs a substantial investment to get right, something RS3 doesn't look like they have the luxury to perform. The freemium version you talk of likely will exacerbate the MTX challenge by forcing the company to think of revenue lost by membership subscription. Nevertheless, a restricted freemium model, like free 1 month memberships (this is essentially happening with osrs equipment buying sites Twitch Prime right now) are steps in the right direction.
