Blizzard’s recently released MMORPG revival World of Warcraft Classic was taken offline over the weekend by a series of DDoS attacks against the game’s servers. According to Kotaku, the attack started around 11 AM EST on September 8, though Blizzard was able to get most World of Warcraft Classic servers back up and running by the next morning.
For those unfamiliar, DDos stands for a Distributed Denial of Service, meaning that a cyber attack has intentionally made a machine or network's resources — in this case, World of Warcraft Classic — unavailable by disrupting connections with its intended users. This has made it unplayable for a solid number of players and has been doing so for a few hours. When starting to play World of Warcraft Classic game, World of Warcraft Classic Gold is a necessary element on condition that you would like to hold a leadership position in World of Warcraft Classic game.
Blizzard has confirmed that it's aware of the situation and closely monitoring it. The most recent update was put out around 2:00 pm PT, stating that "some services" remain impacted by the ongoing DDoS attacks. Players using these services, which can include Battle.net itself, can experience high latency and disconnects. If yesterday can be used as an example, the DDoS attacks ended and services were restored around 6-7:00 pm PT.
Late yesterday evening, the North American customer service team updated players through Twitter, providing information of servers that were back online and stable but that “some players may experience persistent login issues until realm maintenance tomorrow morning.”
